St. Hermenegild (Martyr) was son of the king of the Visigoths in Spain, married the daughter of the king of the Franks and, despite the opposition of his father, who was an Arian, was converted to Catholicism. He was imprisoned and then, on April 13, 586, was put to death, going to heaven to enjoy the royal estate that he preferred to the kingdom of this earth.
