The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Horst Köhler, and his wife, were received in audience by Pope Benedict XVI Saturday. During the cordial talks, there was an exchange of views on various issues. The President visited the Vatican on the occasion of a special concert marking the double anniversary of the founding of the Federal Republic of Germany and the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The current economic crisis and its aftermath as well as on the international situation, with particular attention to Europe and the African continent were also discussed.
