The work of evangelization in the Armed Forces and the role of military chaplains are of great importance in today's world. This was just one of the themes of Pope Benedict XVI's address to participants at the conference of Military Ordinariates, sponsored by the Congregation for Bishops and the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, 25 years after the Apostolic Constitution Spirituali militum curae. The military life of a Christian should be placed in relation with the first and greatest commandments, to love God and neighbor, because the Christian soldier is called to show that the soldier's vocation is a work of love.
