Another Church Fire in France – Authorities Suspect Arson

On February 26, a fire damaged the wooden door of the Notre-Dame-des-Ardilliers church in Saumur, France. About thirty firefighters and a dozen emergency vehicles were dispatched to control the blaze.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, although initial suspicions point to arson. The mayor of Saumur, Jackie Goulet, told Ouest-France.fr that there was "little doubt" that the fire was intentionally set.

Notre-Dame-des-Ardilliers, a listed historic monument, is known for its Baroque architecture (17th-century) and long-standing religious significance. It is currently undergoing restoration.
