A baby boy in Poland has been sent home from the hospital in relatively healthy condition but without his mother who sacrificed her life for the child, reports BBC. According to Sky News, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor but had declined treatment to protect her unborn child as she was 17-weeks pregnant at that time. The woman was rushed to the hospital last year, where she was declared brain-dead. At her prior request, she was kept on life support so the baby could continue developing. In January, after 55 days, doctors at Wroclaw Medical University were compelled to deliver the boy who had reached a fetal age of 26 weeks. While he was born weighing just 2.2 pounds, he left the hospital’s intensive care unit three months later at more than 6 pounds and without any known complications, reports Al Jazeera. His 41-year-old mother was taken off life support and declared dead soon after his birth.
