Mother Dies Two Months After Giving Birth to Daughter

The funeral of Deborah Vanini, 38, who died of lung cancer, was held on Tuesday.

Deborah was diagnosed with the disease on the day she found out she was pregnant. "From the greatest joy to absolute despair. From ecstasy to the pain of hell," she later wrote.

Then she told the doctor: "Let's have our baby and then I'll think about myself".

Deborah revealed this on 22 September, four days after the birth of her daughter Megan.

By the time her daughter was born, Deborah's cancer had reached stage four and was inoperable. The young woman only had two months to live with her daughter.

If she had started treatment as soon as it was discovered, she could have lived for a few more years, 4 or 5 at the most.

Massimo Chinaglia, 40, Deborah's partner, told the Italian newspaper: "We didn't even have time to get married."
