The Caribbean island of Cuba has resisted the attacks of recent hurricanes even though Cubans suffered at least five deaths.
According to MISNA Agency, Hurricane Ike has moved away from Cuba into the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Recently downgraded to a "Category 1 storm" on the five-step hurricane intensity scale, Ike could regain power revving up to a "Category 3". It is expected to hit the coast of Texas in five days.
