Former World Boxing Council (WBC) world champion American Kevin Johnson changed his name to Kevin Vladimirovich Johnson in honor of Russian President Vladimir Putin:

"As a tribute to President Vladimir Putin, I decided to change my name. From now on I will be called Kevin Vladimirovich Johnson - in honor of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Now I'm 100 percent, no joke, 100 percent Russian," Johnson said.

The boxer will meet the 2021 world champion Marko Petrovsky of Russia on August 18 at the tournament in Moscow. In April, after defeating mixed martial arts fighter Vyacheslav Dacsik, Johnson said he wanted to live in Russia.

Johnson is 43 years old. He has 59 professional fights with a record of 36 wins (19 KOs), 21 losses and two draws.
