An Archbishop 'Warns' against the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X
In a short communiqué posted on his Facebook account, he asked "to be vigilant and not to be surprised by the pseudo-Catholic groups that in recent months have been calling for masses in homes and sacraments via WhatsApp".
He refers specifically to the Priestly Fraternity of St Pius X, lumping them together with the so-called "Discalced Carmelites of St Joseph" of an "Old Apostolic Church in America".
Claiming that the two groups - which have nothing to do with each other - are "the same", Richard Alarcón Urrutia protests that "these groups are not in communion with the Catholic Church or with Pope Francis".
According to Catholic-Hierarchy.org, in 1950 the archdiocese of Cuzco had one priest for 6,666 Catholics. Under Richard Alarcón Urrutia it has one priest for 14,691 Catholics.
So Alarcón Urrutia would have other things to worry about than the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X.
