On the Feast of St Nicholas who gave the famous slap to the heretic Arius at the Council of Nicaea (also happens to be my birthday.)
On the Feast of St Nicholas St Thomas had an incident in choir. Perhaps related to Mystical experience that ended his writing. Perhaps from a blow to his head while traveling. Perhaps a stroke. Anyway. it happened on that feast in 1273.
Perhaps Old Nick was trying to show him something? Sure it was not because of heresy though.. It's all a bunch of straw! or something..
Some think.St Thomas had a vision of the Trinity. That would explain him saying that compared to what was revealed to him, what he had written was straw.
That doesn't invalidate St Thomas' work. Rather. it affirms that acc to St Thomas theology is analogy. NB: analogia fidei.
I sure am glad the dumb ox left us a few strands of straw.., after all the ox was close to the Lord in the stable and made a bed for him in the crib..
Looks like His Holiness got a Saint Nicholas-style heretic-slap to his lower jaw…..some would say “well deserved.” Perhaps the great Saint isn’t quite happy with what’s been going on and decided to reach through the veil and take some much needed action. Sadly though, as with the heretical apostate and enemy of the Faith, Arius, it probably will have very little effect.
