Canadian Member of Parliament wants to criminalize the truth

Bill-254, to amend the criminal code, and thus make it a crime and put Canadians in jail for "residential school denialism." @Everyday for Life Canada criticizes Canadian MP Leah Gazan and her proposed Bill-254, which would criminalize promoting hate against Indigenous peoples by denying, downplaying, or justifying the residential school system. The author argues that this bill threatens free speech, could jail people for questioning narratives about residential schools, and would suppress what they view as “truth.” They claim that no mass graves from residential schools have been found and that the schools did not constitute genocide, asserting that allegations of mass killings are false. They also criticize the B.C. Assembly of First Nations for supporting the bill, suggesting they are motivated by funding and political narratives. The piece concludes by urging MPs to reject the legislation and condemns Gazan for introducing it.
