Cardinal Sarah: "Project to Abolish the Latin Mass Is Diabolical"

The abolition of the Roman rite is "an insult to the history of the Church," said Cardinal Robert Sarah during the presentation of his latest book, Dio Esiste? (Does God Exist?), organized by LaNuovaBq.it in Milan on January 20. Excerpts.

- The most urgent task is to recover the sense of adoration and prostration in faith and reverence before the mystery of God.

- The loss of the religious value of kneeling is the source of all the crises that shake the world and the Church, of the dissatisfaction that we see in our society.

- Holy Mass is not a social gathering to celebrate ourselves and our deeds, it is not a cultural display, but the remembrance of the Lord's death and resurrection, which the Church has always celebrated for centuries.

- We are immeasurably more blessed than the prophet Isaiah: he prayed that God would tear the heavens and come down (cf. Is 63:19); we contemplate Him in our midst.

- The Catholic Church is "the place where all truths meet," wrote the great Chesterton almost a hundred years ago, discovering that the oldest religion turns out to be the newest, newer even than the so-called new religions - such as Protestantism, socialism or spiritualism. For, unlike them, Catholic tradition and truth have retained their validity intact for two thousand years.

- The abandonment of God has led to the conviction that moral liberalism leads to the progress of civilization. Instead, observation of reality shows that this supposed progress is in fact a moral and anthropological decadence, a new form of paganism that has desacralized man and his relationships: it even claims to determine who has the right to live, and the weakest pay the price.

- In this defense of man, of the sacredness of his life, we must not allow the powers of this world, expressed in national or supranational governments (think of the UN and its offshoots; military defense pacts that then become offensive), to dictate utilitarian and inhuman agendas. Let us be wary of the new globalist ethics promoted by the UN; let us be wary of gender ideology!

- We must not mutilate ourselves in order to realize ourselves according to our feelings or tendencies, in a way that is different from what God has made us.

- The plan to definitively abolish the traditional Tridentine Mass, which goes back to Pope Gregory the Great (590-604) and even to Pope Damasus (366-384), if it is true, seems to me to be an insult to the history of the Church and to Sacred Tradition. It is a diabolical project that seeks to break with the Church of Christ, the Apostles and the Saints.

- Benedict XVI reminds us that a "the authority of the Pope is not unlimited; it is at the service of Sacred Tradition".

Is he suggesting that Saint (???) Paul VI was doing the work of the devil, too?

SonoftheChurch

Sounds like it is another very excellent and edifying treatise by His Eminence, the great Robert Cardinal Sarah, one among the remnant of holy and faithful Shepherds left to us, who, praise be to God, remains wholly devoted to Christ and Holy Mother Church. His is a powerful, wise and clarion voice raised in defense of the Faith and in the confirmation of the brethren during this time of diabolical darkness. May all of Heaven guard him and keep him strong and safe.

Well, the false prophet is...diabolical. No surprise there
