Planned Parenthood's Person of the Year ?
If there really is a problem, Bishop Zurek needs to explain what it is in detail. Otherwise, he should stop calling attention to himself by interfering with Father Pavone's nationally important ministry.
Does Bishop Zurek want to run PFL himself? Or does he feel threatened by a prominent priest in his diocese who is not financially dependent upon him? Or, after the Roman Catholic Church's horrific sex scandal, is he just trying to make sure that he won't be blamed IF there ever is a problem with PFL finances?
Bishop Zurek phrased it this way: "I have reasons to be alarmed at the potential financial scandal that might arise if it were the result of my failure to correct Father Pavone's incorrigible defiance to my legitimate authority as his bishop."
What "potential financial scandal"?
What "incorrigible defiance"?
To date, Bishop Zurek has offered astonishing and hurtful conclusory allegations, but no evidence supporting them.
Father Pavone takes no salary from PFL.
And, in addition to Father Pavone, Bishop Zurek seems to be insulting all 21 bishops and cardinals who sit on the Priests for Life Episcopal Advisory Board and, unlike Father Pavone, are not subject to his direction, by asserting that they have failed to exercise "legitimate...oversight."
