Wisconsin senate passes Born-Alive abortion bill The Senate in the US state of Wisconsin passed a bill on Tuesday, September 28, that charges doctors with felony if they allow a child that survives abortion to die. The bills makes it mandatory for the health care professional present during a failed abortion to ensure that the baby born alive is given the same amount of care given to other children. The Republican-drafted bill says that violators will be punished with up to six years imprisonment. Fulani herdsmen kill 49 people in Nigeria’s Kaduna state The bloodbath in Nigeria continues as armed men and Fulani herdsmen killed at least 49 people and abduct 27 people in three separate attacks on September 26 and 27. The attacks took place in Local Government areas of Zangon Kataf, Kachia, and Malagun District of Kaura in Kaduna state. On September 27, armed Fulani herdsmen attacked the village of Kacecere in Zangon Kataf, killing eight people and injuring six others. They also torched several homes. Freedom of expression is under attack in Spain: Valencia archbishop The archbishop of Valencia in Spain has said that freedom of expression and religion must be recognized as the basis of the fundamental human rights. Cardinal Antonio Canizares made these comments in a presentation of the latest report on Religious Freedom in the World prepared by the Pontifical foundation Aid to the Church in Need. During the meeting, the Cardinal urged a harmonization between freedom of expression and religion based on the social doctrine of the Church. Polish missionary priest in Alaska named winner of Lumen Christi Award A Polish Catholic priest who has been serving the indigenous people in the diocese of Fairbanks in Alaska has been honored with the prestigious Lumen Christi Award by the pontifically recognized organization Catholic Extension. Father Stan Jaszek was given the top award by the Chicago-based fund raising organization for being a "pastor who smells like his sheep." In the remote Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region near the Bering Sea coast, Father Jaszek serves Native Alaskan villages. The priest has spent 14 of his 19 years as a missionary serving the Yup'ik people and imitating their lifestyle by fishing and foraging berries in the harsh frosty terrain. Thousands rally to oppose abortion in Pennsylvania Thousands rallied in Pennsylvania rallied on Monday, September 27, for the first ever March for Life. The multitude of pro-lifers marched to show solidarity with the unborn and to appeal to lawmakers to pass laws that curb abortion further. Close to 3000 pro-lifers took part in the march around the state Capitol sponsored by the Pennsylvania Family Institute. Abortion up to 24 weeks of pregnancy is legal in Pennsylvania for any reason other than gender selection.
