Pope Francis, the comic book hero

He's shown himself to be a determined reformer of dysfunction in the Vatican and a crusader against global inequality - and now Pope Francis has become a comic book hero.
The South American Pope features as a cartoon character in a comic which seeks to make him more accessible to young children.
The front cover of “Pope Francis – in cartoons” portrays a beaming pontiff holding his thumb up and wearing a white cassock and plain crucifix in front of a cartoon rendition of St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
It promises to “explain the Holy Father’s most beautiful words to little ones”.
The comic, produced by Italian publishing company Edizioni Master, has gone on sale across Italy, with a second edition due to be released on Dec 20.
