Judge Allows Lawsuit Against Father Rosica For Homosexual Assault
On 7 August, Canadian judge Evelyn M. ten Cate at the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario rejected the priest’s petition to dismiss the suit.
Father Rosica is seemingly a notorious homosexual. In June 2024, he was spotted at a homosexual bathhouse in Toronto, even though he has been living in the same city for decades.
Rising Star in the Church's Media
Father Rosica organised Toronto’s World Youth Day in 2002. In 2003, he helped launch the Toronto-based Catholic television network Salt+Light.
In 2009, he became an advisor for the Vatican Dicastery for Communication. He was a Vatican media advisor for the 2008 and 2018 Synods of Bishops.
Not surprisingly, Father Rosica was among Pope Francis’ favoured individuals. In 2019, he served as a spokesman during the Vatican's global abuse summit.
It was only in 2024 that his superiors at the Congregation of St Basil removed Rosica’s faculties for priestly ministry. However, he has still been the facilitator of different Jesuit events in 2024 and 2025.
Accusation: He Has Groped and Fondled a Priest's Genitalia
The lawsuit was filed by Rev. Michael Bechard, a priest from the Diocese of London in Ontario.
He says that Fr Rosica was his mentor in the late 1990s. They travelled together, and Fr Rosica seemingly offered to advance Fr Bechard's career.
The lawsuit alleges that Fr Rosica “made unwanted physical contact” with Rev Bechard. It states that Fr Rosica exposed himself to the younger priest and repeatedly groped and fondled the latter's genitals.
The judge ruled now that the case goes well beyond the internal matters of the Catholic Church: "The canonical court has no ability to award punitive or aggravated damages, cannot make a finding of vicarious liability, and has no enforcement mechanism."
Fr Rosica has denied the allegations.
