Being a practicing Roman Catholic, going to Confession often, receiving Our Lord worthily, putting charity into practice, and learning one's Roman Catechism goes a long way in contributing to the path of one's salvation. Sadly many people need apparitions and deeper theological study to FEEL more Catholic.

What is wrong with the advice of Saint Francis de Sales? Certain vocations do not call on us to do extreme asectical life practices like strict religious orders, yes we are to do the practices for Good Friday, Ash Wednesday, and other prescribed days, but even the monks took either wine or beer, but when they took wine, they watered it down, even Saint Dominic did that, and the Monks who brewed beer …More
What is wrong with the advice of Saint Francis de Sales? Certain vocations do not call on us to do extreme asectical life practices like strict religious orders, yes we are to do the practices for Good Friday, Ash Wednesday, and other prescribed days, but even the monks took either wine or beer, but when they took wine, they watered it down, even Saint Dominic did that, and the Monks who brewed beer, made a special kind for when fasting would be good to replace the meal. So saying to refrain from alcohol is very protestant, even into the Puritan belief. During Advent and Lent, yes Catholics get off of social media, but to cut it off, one must know what the attacks of the enemy are, to be able to withstand them. I will stick with the Doctor of the Church and the Church's Teaching.

This goes against the Great Doctor of the Church, Saint Francis de Sales, "if a married couple try to be as ascetical as St Anthony of the Desert or as poor as a capuchine they will end up sinning against their duties in life."
