WOW!!! This is a magnificent Trappist abbey, probably the only authentic one left in the world. It has 80+ monks. I did a little research into the website of the Trappists world wide. In it, is a listing of all 88 of their monasteries/abbies in the world for 2021. I went back as far as 2009 to research data.
15 monasteries of monks have closed since 2009, 2 in the USA.

Before Vatican II, it was common for many monasteries to have 125+ monks, and some had as many as 250+. Before Vatican II, there were 4,800 Trappist monks. As of 2022 there were 1,559. With the exception of THIS monastery, which in 2021 had 80+ monks with many young, NO other abbey had over 25 monks, with many as few as 6-7. The median age of this Order is close to 80. Very sad.
The reason is , that in most monasteries, the Trappist disiplines and traditions, as well as liturgical traditions have been discarded in favor of liberal liturgies, ecumenism, and even Eastern spirituality. IN one trappist monastery in New England (Spencer, Mass.), for years Zen Buddhist medication was practiced. And of course, Thomas Merton was one of the realy first radical heretic liberals in the Trappist Order and in the Church (died 1968).
Even sadder, is that because this abbey maintains alot of disiplines and traditions, it has been under investigation by heretic liberal Francis and his homo advisors. I hope this great abbey, which reflects what so many Trappist abbies used to be (even though they have Gregorian Chant in French as well as Latin), is unharmed by the sick, demented rulings of Francis and his homo squad of liturgical hacks.
