Nigerian Priest Murdered by His Own People?

Nigerian troops have arrested two suspects in the murder of Rev. Sylvester Okechukwu, writes DailyPost.ng (26 March).

Rev. Okechukwu, a priest of the Diocese of Kafanchan, Kaduna State, was abducted from the rectory of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Tachira, Kaura Local Government Area (LGA) at about 9.15pm on March 4 and found dead on March 5.

The suspects were arrested on Tuesday following a raid on the hideout of the main suspect at a Ruga settlement in Warsa-Piti community, Lere LGA.

The prime suspect, a 33-year-old man, confessed to having been hired to kidnap him by another person living in the parish priest's house.

In a follow-up operation, troops arrested the second suspect at Agwan Sarki, Tachira.

The suspects are currently in custody for further interrogation.

Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the whereabouts of others involved in the heinous crime.
