Woman and Evangelization.

The Spanish Embassy to the Holy See has organized a series of roundtables to assess the role of the Catholic Church, in particular of women, in the contemplative life and in the worlds of education and social assistance.

The ecclesial assistant to this embassy, Father Antonio Pelayo, explains the reason for the initiative:

"We wanted to first of all pay tribute to the woman, whose work in evangelization and education is often not sufficiently acknowledged."
"We realized that the number of Spanish superior general sisters is high, enormous; they are not known even among themselves. So we wanted the embassy to be a stage where they could get to know each other."

The goal is to underline the role of women in the Church.

"We have tried to underline that we cannot understand the role of the Church today without taking into account the woman, the woman is a fundamental element, a basic and permanent factor."

The Superior General of the Claretian Missionary Sisters, Soledad Galerón, highlighted the role of women in the Church.

"Yes, we believe that the woman can have a special role in all that is the work of communication, relation, reconciliation and peace; to help develop this dimension, perhaps through tender sensitivity toward others especially the younger and weaker. We believe that if are able to help all women grow in these values and attitudes, not only those we educate but also we ourselves, then we can create a better humanity."

The only orders that are now flourishing are the traditional ones. Women want to become true nuns and are wanting to dress and act like nuns. And not to enter the "political" scene in order to advance their own agendas which are many times in opposition to the teaching authority of the Church and the Holy Father.
