Francis Promotes the Next Compromised Figure
In Via col vento in Vaticano [Gone with the Wind in the Vatican] (1998), a book about scandals in the Vatican written by a group of authors who called themselves I Millenari, Gugerotti appears under then pseudonym "stambecco," a servile careerist. The book sold 100K copies in its first three weeks alone.

All the main characters in the book are given pseudonyms from Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind (1936). Among those identified is Cardinal Achille Silvestrini (
Silvestrini made Gugerotti undersecretary at the Congregation for the Eastern Church in 1997.
The book is about nepotism, homosexual scandals, corruption and Satanism in the Vatican. Including: a bishop is blackmailed by an illegitimate daughter; questions are raised about the death of John Paul I; satanic masses were celebrated in the Vatican with hooded participants naked from the waist down; there was an affair between a young priest at the nunciature in Bern, Switzerland, and a nun, both of whom were reassigned.
In June 2022, Gugerotti celebrated Corpus Christi in the Novus Ordo in Latin, with smells and bells and two deacons at his side, making this look like the Roman Rite (pictures from Mazur below).
