New Superior of Institute of the Roman Rite in Berlin

Father Marco Piranty, 45, was elected Provost (superior) of the Philipp Neri Institute in Berlin on November 28, with immediate effect. The Institute of the Roman Rite has few members but is of pontifical right.

The founder and previous Provost, Father Gerald Goesche, resigned his post after more than twenty years for health reasons.

He was appointed to his post for an indefinite period by the now disbanded Ecclesia Dei Commission when the Institute was founded in 2004.

The term of the new Provost is three years.

Father Piranty was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising in 2010. He joined the Institute of St Philipp Neri in 2013.
