“Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried”

Hi everyone, hope all are having a good summer! Thanks for the replies, comments, and emails I have received recently, they are very much appreciated! Thanks also to my fellow blogger at voxcantor.blogspot.ca for the nice post about www.canadiancatechist.com, I travel his site quite often :-). So, on to some necessary catechesis. We will be discussing the teachings of the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church regarding the Fourth Article of the Apostle’s Creed,which states,“Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried” . So, The Passion, Death,and Burial of Jesus Christ.
Their are some very important points to take away from this Fourth Article of the Apostle’s Creed. Lets start with the fact that Jesus willingly wanted to die for all of us in order to satisfy the Divine justice due to sin. The fact that He chose to go through the sufferings of His Passion should prompt us to fall down in adoration, praise and thanksgiving. Jesus did not have to go through with the torture and pains of His Passion and crucifixion, He chose to. He wanted to show us how much He loves us and how far He would go, and did go,to bring us back into friendship with God. The least amount of suffering for the God-Man, Jesus Christ would have satisfied Divine Justice because of its infinite value, but, we are to learn from His Passion, 1. how much he loves us, 2. how terrible sin is , 3. how we should more patiently and willingly bear our own cardboard crosses. Not trying to negate the fact that some do indeed have to carry truly heavy crosses, my own however, tend to be cardboard. So truly, Christ saved us from Hell! I say that literally, not allegorically or metaphorically or any other twisted modernized way, Jesus Christ actually saved us from an eternal Hell by dying on the Cross for us. In His dying, He showed us how to live!
