Monastery life, Pittsburgh, 1961

This documentary about the life and training of priests was filmed at St. Paul of the Cross Monastery on Pittsburgh's South Side. Titled "Sign of a Priest," it first aired on Channel 11 (then WIIC) on January 16, 1961. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette announced, "Sign of a Priest: Film story of a Passionist Father's steps from postulant to the priesthood with scenes of ceremonies and life at St. Paul's Monastery on the South Side. Produced, filmed, directed, narrated and written by Ray Stewart, a one-man television gang."

I was associated with what I understand now as the remnants of the Passionist in the 1980’s having watched this formidable video of what was a a GREAT order in a GREAT Church!

Thanks for posting this. Looking forward to viewing after Mass today.
