Faithful Pray Rosary - Cardinal Calls Police

A group of Catholics gathered peacefully outside the house of Cardinal Carlos Castillo, the "Archbishop of Lima" to pray the rosary in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, following the controversy caused by the blasphemous play 'María Maricón'.

Maricón' means 'fag' in Spanish.

The blasphemous play, belittled and defended by Carlos Castillo, a devotee of Pachamama, was to be performed at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP).

Because of Castillo's cowardly stance, about twenty Catholics gathered at the doors of Carlos Castillo's house to pray the rosary for him and as an act of reparation.

Castillo responded to the prayer by requesting police intervention (sic) to prevent the peaceful act of prayer.

Carlos Castillo's response has fuelled the debate about the relationship between the [synodal

] Church and the faithful on issues of freedom of expression and respect for religious symbols.
