Who Is Francis' Dauphin—and Why Didn't He Remove Cardinal Parolin Like Müller or Burke?

On March 24, ElWanderer.com published an analysis on why Francis’s return from the hospital and a few more months to live could be seen positively. Main points.

- Cardinal Fernández's remark that Francis "will have to learn to speak again" wasn't about slurred speech. It was a subtle warning that the Pope, frail and fading, is no longer really able to lead the Church.

- Who is the "hornet's nest" handing Francis documents to sign? All fingers point to Cardinal Parolin. If the Pope dies in the near future, Cardinal Pietro Parolin is currently the most likely successor.

- Parolin is known for his strong opposition to the Holy Mass and was a key instigator of Traditionis custodes.

- He revived the failed 'Ostpolitik' with his China deal, effectively handing the Church over to the Chinese state.

- Francis doesn't want Parolin, and Parolin doesn't want Francis: two power-hungry figures who are naturally at odds.

- Francis received Parolin at the Gemelli Hospital only with the secretary, Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra. He doesn't trust Parolin and insisted on a witness.

- Parolin's fiercest critic is the venerable Cardinal Joseph Zen of Hong Kong who said: "Parolin has a poisoned mind. He has very sweet manners, but I don't trust him," and bluntly, "Parolin knows he's a liar."

- Francis' likely dauphin is Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, whom he promoted from Roman priest to Archbishop of Bologna and head of the Italian Bishops' Conference. Bonus: Zuppi and Parolin hate each other.

- Francis often removes close associates, but Parolin has held his post for twelve years.

- If Francis opposes Parolin, why does he not dismiss him like Müller or Burke? Because Francis chose not to confront "the caste".

- What is "the caste"? The Church has been governed for centuries by a caste [ElWanderer insinuates a Vatican homosexual network within the parallel hierarchy of diplomats, tracing back at least to Cardinal Rampolla (+1913)].

- No Pope can govern without the caste or a pact with the caste.

- There have been nine Popes in the last century, not counting John Paul I. Four of them were not members of the caste: Pius X, John Paul II, Benedict XVI and Francis. The rest - Benedict XV, Pius XI, Pius XII, John XXIII and Paul VI - were members.

- All except Ratzinger quickly allied themselves with the caste. Pius X chose Rafael Merry del Val as Secretary of State, a member of the caste since his days as a seminarian [Pius X also appointed the previous Secretary of State, Cardinal Rampolla, as head of the Holy Office]. John Paul II chose Cardinal Casaroli, a top figure of the caste.

- Benedict XVI had lived with the caste for twenty years. He knew them well and what they were capable of. He was the only one brave enough to appoint a stranger as Secretary of State. Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, however, was not the right man, because he was clumsy and frivolous. The caste set all kinds of traps for Benedict XVI.

- When Benedict XVI doubled the bet and set up an investigatory commission in the Roman Curia [against a Vatican network of homosexual prelates], and the result were two big cases in the caste, he had to resign, ElWanderer.com claims.

- The caste chose Bergoglio as their candidate.

- Francis signalled cooperation with the caste by appointing Msgr. Battista Ricca, who is linked to the Pink Mafia to a top Vatican post. Without protest, Francis accepted the recommendation of Cardinals Silvestrini and Tauran to appoint Pietro Parolin as Secretary of State, bringing him back from the exile imposed by Benedict XVI.

- Francis will not remove Parolin from his post. Firemen don't step on each other's hoses.

No, Cardinal Parolin is not the most likely successsor. I agree that Francis does not want Parolin to succeed him--he does not want the papacy returned to the Italians. Giving the red hat to Zuppi ensures that.

Pandemic of Catholic amnesia: Bergoglio goes to hospital and all of a sudden: “its not him, its this evil group around him”. Childish and boring attempt to justify unjustifiable, used so many times before…

If we delete everything the present pontificate has produced since March 13, 2013, the universal Church would be in a much better spiritual state.

But the damage is done, there’s many Francis enthusiasts around the world (and not necessarily priests or bishops), who love to push "the good not the bad" teachings of Francis, not knowing that a truth linked with a lie is a lie altogether.

I said, "If..."

I am not a Francis fan, but he did one very good thing: He cleared up the question of the validity of SSPX absolutions and marriages.

The Church was in a horrid spiritual state long before the advent of Pope Francis.

@Dr Bobus so did Judas, he healed, took out demons and preached the good news... in the end, it is written, that despite he seen such he was a traitor. Sadly, Francis will go down in history as how st. Francis described him, a destroyer.
Yes, he took out the "fee" for annulments, which was 200 dollars a pop, he did acknowledge a gay underground within the Vatican, the validity of the SSPX was there, but publicly "allowing" them to confess people wasn’t necessary, because people were doing it regardless, but it was a nice thing for sure... the question is... did it save souls? No, didn't move the needle at all.
In the end, saving souls is what priests are for, but he did cloud that, no question about it, the millions of souls in confusion or lost, will be his legacy... And above all, the silence amongst the clergy, in my eyes, is the biggest scandal in the Church about his clear destructive and heretic works.

Dr Bobus

Just because people confess to a priest doesn't mean the absolution is valid.
