Faithful Rushes Into Burning Church, Saves the Blessed Sacrament

The 114-year-old St Philip's Church in Hankinson, North Dakota, caught fire during renovations on December 16.

Nathan Falk, a member of the parish, was one of the first on the scene. He saw black smoke, called firefighters, and ran in the church to save the Blessed Sacrament, he told local media.

"I went in and got the Blessed Sacrament out of the tabernacle and the relic out from under the altar, got the vestments out and some of the candles, and then we were told to get out, and we obeyed."

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
