The Life of St. Mary Magdalen Postel, Virgin, Founder, Third Order (1756-1846 ) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Jul 16. St. Mary Magdalen Postel was born in Normandy, France, and helped the Church there to survive the French Revolution promoting devotion and administering of the Blessed Sacrament. She started a religious order the Poor Daughters of Mercy following the Third Order Franciscan Rule and did much for education. Reflection is on Mary, comforter of the afflicted, recommended as such by the Church. This is because her suffering was so great at the passion of her divine Son, she knows our sufferings and has the power as Queen of Heaven to lend a hand.
