As a young man, Eugenio Pacelli was entrusted to Cardinal Rampolla FM.*., who chose for him the modernist course of the Capranica.
-1899, after his ordination, Father Pacelli constantly accompanied Rampolla, as his private secretary. His close colleagues in the Vatican were the members of Rampolla's "team": Della Chiesa (future Benedict XV), Gasparri, Radini-Tedeschi and Roncalli (future John XXIII).
-1904, Secretary of the Commission for the Codification of Canon Law.
-1911, sent by Pius X to the coronation of his opponent, the Head of the heretical Anglican Church, George V (first time in more than 350 years...).
