Poland 7 Oct, 2017: Różaniec do Granic - Ave Maria (Bach-Gounod) by Dajos Béla.

Dajos Béla Orchester – Ave Maria (Bach-Gounod), Odeon c. 1925 NOTE: This recording is dedicated to an unusual event, which yesterday took place in Poland. The all-nation praying “action” - called Rosary To The Borders (Różaniec Do Granic) engulfed one million people who travelled by cars, trains, buses to the selected churches located along the Polish state borders, to pray there on the Rosary. Another million staying at homes by the radio sets joined pilgrims on the air. The prayer – which took two hours between 2-4 pm – was for Poland, for Europe and for the world. Of course, that spontaneous and – as it was shown later – enormous action of the Polish catholics evoked fury in the levaks environement, accusing the organizers of “pushing Poland back to the Middle Ages” and of the “religious fundamentalism”. Those old and weathered post-Marxist assaults had no meaning for the development of the event. Hundreds thousands of people gathered in prayer along the Polish-German, Polish-Russian, Polish-Lithuanian, Polish-Belarussian, Polish-Ukrainian, Polish-Slovak and Polish-Chekh borders in the desolate chapels, in parish churches, along the roads, on the customs-points, in airports, along the Baltic beaches and on the peaks of the mountains. It is estimated, that such event has no equal phenomenon in Europe in modern times. Poland – which on 1 April 1656, during the merciless Swedish invasion was entrusted by king Jan Kazimierz in the Cathedral of Lwów to Saint Mary as Her Kingdom – also yesterday showed belief in St. Mary’s intercession. The prayer was organized on the anniversary day of the Battle of Lepanto (7th October 1571) – when Christian fleet won victory over the multi-prevailing forces of Turkish Sultanate, thus saving Europe from the Islamic invasion. Yesterday, millions of Polish catholics prayed for saving Poland and all of Europe from the religious, cultural and national annihilation, entrusting the fate of our nations in the hands of St. Mary.
