To Denis Mailloux,

I'm not very good with computers so I really don't know how to post a response to your comment, but I write this anyway. To a point, your caution is prudent. Funny, "prudent" is so misused these days. I can't imagine, considering particularly the "midpoint" document from the synod, that any kind of resulting dust will settle any time soon. And, also, considering the internet and printed blather from the German "Church" (as if they have any proprietary rights), the dust from the first synod will be counted as nothing against the destructive "sandstorm" that may be the fallout from the next meeting if the Germans, Swiss, et al are given the go-ahead to promote their poison. No, your counsel is correct that we shouldn't anticipate the worst, but we should prepare for it if the Teutonic ecclesial machine manages to win the day. Of course, that said, the Church is still indefectible, but as the Holy Father, alas, "Emeritus" Pope Benedict has hinted, such a sandstorm may reduce the Universal Church to a Universal Church Remnant.

I celebrate 10 years of priesthood next week, Deo Gratias - at the age of 64. I don't expect to make it to my silver jubilee. Ah well, whatever the Lord wills. But, if I have to die before the great trial, well, "fiat, fiat." Today ain't the world (or the Church) I was born into. I guarantee I won't go kicking and screaming when it's my time. May you, M. Denis, see a better world and a better Church. God bless.
