Vatican Admits Breaking Away From “What The Church Once Did”
The Vatican’s Handbook on Ecumenism (December 4) admits breaking with Catholic tradition.
Number 17 claims that Catholics “not only can but indeed must” seek out opportunities to pray with other Christians, yet they should understand that some Christian communities don't practise joint prayer, ”as was once the case for the Catholic Church.” The handbook recommends praying together the psalms and scriptural canticles.
It is easy to show that the demands contained in the handbook oppose Catholic doctrine:
• Synod of Laodicea (363): “No one shall pray in common with heretics and schismatics.”
• Council of Carthage (397): “No one must either pray or sing psalms with heretics.”
• Canon Law (1917): “It is not licit for Catholics to attend or take part in an active way in non-Catholic ceremonies.”
• Congregation of the Holy Office (1949): “Any communication whatsoever in worship must be avoided.”

Former Womaniser Who Became a Priest, Murdered
The killer of Camillian Father Leonardo Grasso, 78, has been caught.
Grasso was found dead after a December 4 arson at the drug rehabilitation community 'Tenda di San Camillo' in Riposto, Sicily, where he was the director.
The suspect is a former drug addict and guest of the community. He first attacked and possibly killed Grasso with a wooden stick, and then around 5 a.m. set a fire which spread through the building.
Grasso was a estate agent and womaniser until the age of 50. After the sudden death of his parents he changed his life, entered the Camillians and became a priest.

Viganò: Francis Uses Covid-19 "To Humiliate God"
Like on Easter, Francis uses Covid-19 again to cancel Christmas and the December 8 veneration of the Immaculate on the Piazza di Spagna, Archbishop Viganò writes in a December 7 statement.
For him, the "so-called ‘church’ of Bergoglio" closes churches and arrogates to itself a right to deny God public worship and to deprive the faithful of the Sacraments "through a wretched connivance with civil power.”
Therefore - Viganò believes - the Bergoglio church "humiliates the Most Holy Trinity" by lowering it to the level of idols and demons with sacrilegious rituals of a neo-pagan religion. Thus it snatches the crown and sceptre away from Christ the King "in the name of Masonic Globalism.”
Viganò notices that Catholics are often scandalised and disoriented when Francis speaks, "because his words are the exact opposite of what they expect to hear from the Vicar of Christ."

13 Jesuits Died Within Two Weeks
“Misfortune, debacle or catastrophe may describe what happened to us Jesuits in these fifteen days,” Father José Leonardo Rincón wrote on the website of the Columbian Jesuits.
Twelve Jesuit priests and one brother died within the past fifteen days, almost one a day. Ten of them suffered from Covid-19 which had entered a Jesuit infirmary through an employee.
Among them were Father Rodolfo de Roux, 75, a known theologian, writer, and composer; Father Marco Tulio González, a former Dean of Psychology; and Father Alvaro Jimenez, a Psychologist who wrote 30 books.
Many of the Covid-19 victims suffered from diabetes, respiratory problems and Alzheimer's and thus were unable to understand the Covid-19 safety measures.

Former President of Vatican Bank Stole 60 Million Euros
Vatican prosecutors want to put Angelo Caloia, 81, the former president of the Vatican Bank (1989 to 2009), for 8 years in prison.
Caloia is accused of having embezzled €60 million by selling almost all of the Vatican Bank’s real estate to himself and his accomplices through offshore companies.
His accomplices were the lawyer Gabriele Liuzzo (requested: 8 years) and his son Lamberto (requested: 6 years).
Caloia succeded Monsignor Paul Marcinkus (+2006) at the Vatican Bank. The trial began in May 2018. The judgment will be pronounced on 21 January 2021.
According to the prosecution, the defendants acted out of greed and kept the most valuable properties for themselves.
During the interrogation, Caloia justified the millions of euros found in his bank accounts with an inheritance from his mother-in-law but before the court he couldn't even remember his mother-in-law's name.

Syria: Catholics Reject Church Closures and Communion in the Hand
Damascus Maronite Archbishop Samir Nassar “resists” church closures, he writes in his Christmas letter (Fides.org, November 26).
Nassar speaks of a “rebellion” against the idea of closing Christian places of worship and suspending the public celebration of the sacraments.
He supports faithful participating in "large numbers" in Holy Masses and receiving Communion on their tongues (“They show their trust in Divine Providence”) despite a directive of the bishops to pick it up with the hands.

No Everlasting Punishment: Hell Not More Than "Explosive" Word, "Dramatic Image"
Christ sometimes uses the “explosive” word hell to “describe the chaos of a person headed in a self-destructive direction,” Father Paul Fox of Our Lady of Ransom, Rayleigh, Brentwood Diocese, England, believes.
He explains in his Advent parish bulletin (published on MarkLambert.Blogspot.com) that Christ's mentioning of hell is only a warning to “take care of yourself.”
Christ's usage of “contemporary dramatic images" doesn't refer to "future everlasting punishment," so Fox, and doesn't intend to "cause fear" but only expresses his "deep concern" for human values such as feeding the hungry and loving one another.

Holy Communion Astronaut Again Underway
Michael Hopkins is the commander of the Resilience spacecraft which docked to the International Space Station (ISS) on November 17 for six months.
ISS is a habitable satellite at an altitude of 400 kilometres which serves as a research laboratory and is visible to the naked eye from the earth.
During his first 2013 space mission Expedition 37/38, Hopkins, then a recent convert, brought consecrated hosts with him in order not to miss Communion during six-month.
His parish-priest and the Russian space agency allowed him to take hosts with him for Sundays and for two spacewalks, “It was helpful for me to know that Jesus was with me when I went out the hatch into the vacuum of space,” he said later.
It is likely but unconfirmed that Hopkins again transported hosts to the orbit.

Francis Compares His Time in Germany to Covid-19
In a new book, Francis calls his time in Germany his “Covid of the exile.”
He went to Frankfurt in 1986 to study German and to finish his doctorate, but “I felt like a fish outside water.”
During his walks he could see the nearby Frankfurt airport and the planes landing and taking off, "I longed for my country, to go back.”
When Argentina won the 1986 FIFA World Cup on June 29 against Germany, this was not mentioned in the German classes. Only a Japanese girl wrote on the blackboard “Viva Argentina.” The others laughed. The professor entered, cleand the blackboard and ignored the topic.
“It was the solitude of a lonely victory,” a sentimental Francis remembers.

Go with the Flow: Francis Quotes Martin Luther
Francis invoked a “better world” in an article he published on the oligarch Corriere.it (November 22).
The text is part of a book he will publish next week. Francis mentions the “transforming force” of Christianity which is only a “collateral effect” of the “spiritual intensity” of the Christians.
The origin of this force is “the primate of grace,” Francis explains, which doesn’t lead to passivity but increases energy and sensitivity to injustice.
Although his Fratelli tutti is the longest encyclical ever written, Francis warns of moralism and of Christian words which “are losing their meaning.”
Then, he uses a long quote of Martin Luther to moralise about not helping a poor is also stealing, and again Luther and the Protestant theologian Reinhold Niebuhr (+1971) to explain the commonplace that justice must be accompanied by mercy.

Zen: Why Francis Fired Cardinal Filoni
Cardinal Zen writes on OldYosef.hkdavc.com (November 21) that we are living in the last days of human history.
In this context he lists facts about the Vatican's betrayal of the Chinese Church.
Francis' legitimation of seven illegitimate State bishops, two of them married, is for Zen even worse than the secret Vatican-China agreement which is used “to demand everything from the Catholic faithful.”
Zen informs that Cardinal Filoni, the former Prefect of the Mission Congregation, was helping the Chinese Catholics telling them “not to be cheated" because "it is not in the agreement.”
For Zen this was probably the reason why Francis dismissed Filoni two years before he reached the retirement age.

Abolishing Celibacy: Cardinal Marx Still Hopes
"There is no Catholic Church without priests, but what does the priests' future look like," Munich Cardinal Marx asked in a sermon on Saturday:
"Perhaps we will also have priests who are not celibate - why not?" - he suddenly replaced the sermon with church politics.
Marx hopes that the "Corona pandemic" will encourage these "debates" in the church, although Covid-19 has accelerated the exodus of the German faithful and thus diminished the need for priests.
