Benedict XVI: environment, an international problem.

Benedict XVI has issued a new appeal for environmental protection and the search for alternative energy sources today in his speech to the ambassadors of Denmark, Uganda, Sudan, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Finland and Latvia, who were received for the presentation of credentials. The problem of the environment, noted the Pope, should be addressed at the international level, and limits should be placed on the exploitation of resources while looking for new models of development. In other moments during his address, Benedict XVI emphasized the role that each religion can play in promoting peace, since to recognize God as the Creator of man, of all people without distinction, is the basis of mutual respect. Inter-religious dialogue contributes to the development of a more humane and balanced world and the political and economic world are asked to put man as the first priority. Ultimately, religion must have its proper role in the life of every nation.
