Simon Jenkins notes that "this is 'conservatory' Perpendicular at its most glassy", and this makes Bath Abbey a soaring and light-filled building. The effect would be markedly different if it the windows (80% of the walls are windows!) were filled with stained glass, as at King's College in Cambridge. However, the result of these expanses of clear glass is something like the effect seen above on a sunny day.
