Young English woman hanged for planning the escape of a priest in London.
Trailer for a film by Mary's Dowry Productions on Saint Margaret Ward, one of the 40 Martyrs of England and Wales, who was hanged at the Tyburn Triple Gallows with a group of young Catholics and priests in their twenties. The film is available now on DVD worldwide. St. Margaret Ward had planned the escape of a Catholic priest from Bridewell prison in Elizabethan England and was sentenced to death by law. She refused to renounce her Faith or tell the authorities anything even though she was hung up by her wrists for ten days and was crippled and partly paralysed. Those she died with were forbidden to speak at the gallows for fear that their youth and zeal might influence the crowd gathered for their execution. Saint Margaret Ward was a young, single, Elizabethan women who gave her life for the Catholic Faith and priests in England.
