So, there was no mass but the blessing had an atmosphere and all of the aspects of a wedding ceremony.

My wife's family and ancestry is from Mexico. I've been there several times and it definitely is a second world country. The levels of poverty are higher than in the US. Its divided between rich and poor with a small middle class. The country is still dangerous with Cartels unchecked and many murders and kidnappings committed by them. Travel there at your own risk and don't listen to the gaslighters.
