Sr Lucia Did Not Remember

Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the former Vatican Secretary of State, has told Catholic News Agency (May 12) about a meeting he had with Sr Lúcia dos Santos (1907-2005), one of the three seers of Fatima, on December 9, 2001.

During the meeting he asked her whether she had encountered Cardinal Albino Luciani on July 11, 1977 and foretold him that he would become pope. Luciani was elected pope on August 26, 1978, took the name John Paul, and died 33 days later.

This is what Sr Lúcia answered the Cardinal: "I do not remember if I told him, he was going to be elected Pope. I told my convent that I had met a good cardinal, a holy cardinal, and that if he was elected Pope, he was going to be a good Pope’.”
