Today, 5 April, the Universal Church commemorates the great Dominican preacher and miracle-working saint, Vincent Ferrer. The Order keeps his feast day on 5 May so as to be able to fittingly celebrate his feast in Eastertide. A biography of the saint's life can be found here. This altarpiece is in the former Dominican church on the island of Lopud near Dubrovnik, Croatia.
