Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived fifty minutes late for his July 4 audience with Pope Francis.
Putin was already 50 minutes late for his first (2013), and more than an hour late for his second (2015) encounter with Francis.
As gifts, Putin presented Francis with a book on Michelangelo and some booklets entitled [in English] “Sin” [in order to catechize Francis?]. He received a copy of the Francis’ documents “Gaudete et exsultate” and “Christus vivit”.
Referring to the Fatima message and Francis' gifts to Putin, the American Author and former intelligence officer Steven O'Reilly comments on Twitter,
“We’ve come full circle. [Soviet] Russia spread its errors around the world....now the Pope is giving them back to Russia.”
