Legionaries of Christ: Hidden Money?

According to the “Pandora papers” – a set of documents designed by the CIA and handed over to the oligarchs’ media for propaganda purposes – the Legionaries of Christ set up the Retirement and Medical Charitable Trust (RMCT) in New Zealand “to hide” millions of dollars from the Vatican.

This happened just 20 days after Benedict XVI had appointed Cardinal Velasio de Paolis on 16 June 2010 to be their commissioner.

Among the investments were residential buildings in Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Texas. The money was channelled through Switzerland, England, the US, Spain, and Mexico. At the end of 2017, the trust controlled close to $300 million in assets, held in four Swiss banks.
