This is the legacy of the Protestant error of "total depravity of man." The deformers insisted exclusively on "all have sinned" (or as the 1960s put it "the devil made me do it") that NO ONE, no saint even the Virgin Mary can lead a moral life; so no blame for wickedness since 'everybody does it!
