Canon Law to Include "Spiritual Abuse" as Crime

Cardinal Tucho Fernández on Monday published on Vatican.va an announcement on "False Mysticism and Spiritual Abuse" that was presented to Francis on November 22.

The key point is the introduction of a vague crime for spiritual abuse and "false mysticism". There is no timetable yet for when the law will be presented and how the act will be defined.

The law is intended to prevent the use of "mystical elements" as means of controlling or exploiting people.

It should also be possible to classify a crime as "spiritual abuse", avoiding the overly broad and ambiguous term "false mysticism".

Spiritual abuse? Let me guess...the 10 Commandments perhaps?

Orthocat

Do you think us beleaguered faithful have enough evidence for a class action suit against the Vatican for their abuse?

Marysrose

Under Cannon Law? The church is not a democracy, but if enough Catholics called out to God Francis might get fired (by God).

Orthocat

I meant this above sarcastically.

Marysrose

Oh. Well, we can still ask the judge (Jesus) to fire Francis and give us a truly (traditional) pope.

You mean spirituality that contradicts the (traditional) church teaching?

Wilma Lopez

It's coming from a man notorious for having written a book on 'mystical sex-theology'.

Marysrose

That's right. 🥵 Also, Francis threw out the requirement for two miracles to prove someone a saint. Francis also negates all the miracles of the saints.

Orthocat

Yeah "false mysticism" - in modernist speak anything that offends the "dignity of the human person" - NOT the imago Dei in which God created us but the liberal ideology of individualism. I've already heard a priest rail against those 'fundamentalist devotees of Marian apparitions" that warn of dire consequences of sin who disturb the "peace" of others. Don't they know we're in the 'reign of mercy & non-judgement" of Vatican II??? 🤪

In US criminal law, for good reason, a criminal statute is deemed unconstitutional if it fails to give ordinary people fair notice of what is proscribed, or if it lacks sufficient standards so as to invite arbitrary enforcement.
The same concerns arise with a vague Canon Law. But with no Constitutional protection the pope is the final arbiter. Under the current status of the Church there is near certainty that such a law will be used to prosecute traditional clerics who oppose the false and heretical teachings of Vatican II.

Talk about self-imploding. These folks continue to unmask their own self-delusions.

I bet everybody is thinking this is rich, coming from people whose profession is lying, manipulating and eclipse about truth.

Really!? Tucho about false mysticism and spiritual abuse!?
Who really cares what those antichrists are spitting out any way!
