Will Vatican Media Open Up for Catholics?

VaticanNews.va (July 5) published an interview about the war in Ukraine with the Jesuit Gaël Giraud, director of Georgetown’s Environmental Justice Program. It ends with the caveat,

"The Vatican media launch a series of in-depth reports on Francis' words on the war in Ukraine and possible solutions for a negotiation: the interviewees express their opinions, which cannot therefore be attributed to the Holy See."

The ultramontanist and warmongering IlSismografo (July 7) is dismayed calling the disclaimer “completely unusual” and criticising that Vatican media have “always” expressed the Pope’s opinion and avoided giving voice to other points of view, even in the political sphere.

But Catholics hope that such a similar disclaimer may allow some Catholic voices to find entrance into the Vatican media which usually shun the Catholic perspective.
