The Myths of Vatican II.

Have you ever heard someone say someone is pre-Vatican, or that they are taking us back to before the council? This is a common cry of the Liberals who hijacked the renewal after in the Post-Conciliar era. They, under the guise 'the Spirit of Vatican II' have taught liberal Protestantism, and tried to pass it off as legitimate reform. This supposed reform is no reform at all, but a deformation. It produces no fruit except spiritual suicide. This sermon was given, at the request of the Administrator of Most Precious Blood Church in Hazleton, because he wished me to explain to the people of his Church why what he was doing was completely in line with Vatican II. The administrator now has written of himself that "I deeply regret the disturbing effect of his talk upon you."(Bulliten, Vol. XXI No. 17, April 26, 2009)

Communion in the hand began, in the hand, with the publication of the Dutch Catechism with nobody's permission except the bishops - in effect, in principle "separated themselves" from the Holy See. One country after another began then to ask for permission, which the Dutch bishops never asked for, permission to receive Communion in the hand. I was asked by the U.S. bishops' conference to write a defense of Communion on the tongue, and I can again talk for hours.

In the very, very early Church, Communion was given in the hands. However, as the faith of the Christians weakened in the Real Presence, by the 5th, 6th centuries Communion on the tongue became mandatory - remained mandatory un til the present century. Behind Communion in the hand - I wish to repeat and make as plain as I can - is a WEAKENING, a CONSCIOUS, "DELIBERATE" Weakening of faith in the Real Presence.

And the American hierarchy took most - three times, those wanting Communion in the hand kept pushing and pushing. Finally, meantime, I was asked by the vice-president of the Catholic Conference of Bishops to defend Communion on the tongue, which I did. To get enough votes to give Communion in the hand, bishops who were retired, bishops who were dying, were solicited to vote to make sure that the vote would be affirmative in favor of Communion in the hand. WHATEVER YOU CAN DO TO STOP COMMUNION IN THE HAND WILL BE BLESSED BY GOD."

Sadly Enough HolyRope indeed you are correct. When people request the traditional Rite a pastor is obliged to provide it. (He may not celebrate it if he does not want to. But he has to make sure someone is brought in to celebrate it. If he cannot he should get his chancery to find such a priest.)

As for communion kneeling that is the universal norm. (Never understood how America has a norm that is different than the universal norm, but it is.) Also on the tongue is guarenteed by the Holy Father John Paul II, as well as immemorial Tradition. I would love to know how these bishops are forbidding it due to cold and flu season, when it is a right.

Isn't it ironic that Mark is called spineless when he is the only person who is putting his full name on the posts by someone who uses a pseudonym. I don't mind a pseudonym, I mean many people have them. I know one priest who got very angry when Fr. Stravinskas called him by his name Fr WTC on a blog, but I didn't get mad when O happy day used my name, because I don't care. If you listen to enough of my sermons, and read the descriptions it is not hard to figgure out who I am. But why call someone spineless when they are using their name?

And is someone spineless who produced a book critizising such an internationally recognized secular saint as his book has? Disagree with the premise or not, you gotta recognize that he is not spineless writing it.

What irony, from the darkness one throws the dart of calling another a coward.

I hope the mirror's reflection does not blind!!!!!

The Spine of the Holy Spirit

Recently I saw a t.v. report about a duplicitous con-man masquerading as a Christian who set-up a Ponzi scheme by which he bilked hundreds of small Black congregations out of many thousands of their needed funds. They trusted the charlatan, and he, with all of his “Praise the Lord, brothers and sisters” palaver, stole their money.

Now, what is most villainous, is that this despicable humbug had the chutzpah to call a conference of all those who had trusted him to apprise them that they would, alas, be getting none of the promised God-sent riches that he had prophesied as a result of their “investment.”

Naturally, there was an outcry. But the confidence artist’s simple method of silencing the assembly was the devilish ploy that tends to tongue-tie many otherwise intelligent and articulate Christian leaders. He merely said, “You’re not presuming to judge me, are you?” Well, believe it or not, that seemed to do the trick. The artful dodger who had picked their pockets walked away unhindered.

Amazing that “Are you presuming to judge me?” is so effective as a weapon against Christians. The good folk seem to have no answer to such a misappropriated charge. But, there is a perfectly legitimate answer.

We are cautioned, scripturally, strongly against “judging” those who are living in the spirit of the world and not in the Spirit of God. We are told that only God has the power and authority to judge. God is the Judge. But for the good Christian folk who were fleeced, dealing with the likes of the swindler has nothing to do with judging. A judge’s duty is to sentence, and the defrauded folk do not have the power or authority to sentence the cheat. But they certainly have the power and authority to contact the law and pursue charges against this rip-off artist.

Scripture tells us to not judge, but it DOES tell us that we are to be judicious and discriminating. In other words, to act wisely! “Judicious” means “having, exercising, or characterized by sound judgment.” “Discriminating” means “astutely telling things apart—discerning, judicious, perspicacious.” In other words, acting responsibly and wisely!

Christians have the perfect foundation for wisdom. It is known as God’s Word—the Bible. For a Christian, being properly instructed/informed is dependent upon the edification (from L. aedificare 'build', from aedis 'dwelling' facere 'make' ) of the Holy Spirit as we read The Word--the counselor Jesus promised would be sent once he returned to be with His Father in Heaven.

I do hope that this provides you with a perfectly legitimate response next time you hear the Devil quote Scripture. When that greatest of charlatans—that angel of the light-fingered—wheedles “But, who are you to judge.” Don’t fall for it.

Dear ohhappyday,

Did you, perhaps, read the description of the video on the right? Here is the part I think you missed:

“This sermon was given, at the request of the Administrator of Most Precious Blood Church in Hazleton, because he wished me to explain to the people of his Church why what he was doing was completely in line with Vatican II. The administrator now has written of himself that ‘I deeply regret the disturbing effect of his talk upon you.’(Bulliten, Vol. XXI No. 17, April 26, 2009)”

Yes, the administrator made the changes but instead of standing up to his own parish he asked another priest to do his job for him. Then, when the visiting priest did what the administrator requested and the anger of his parishioners transferred to the visiting priest the administrator assumed no responsibility for his actions and beliefs and washed his hands of the visiting priest.

How disgraceful!

“I say you are spineless!”

Thank you for the Catholic charity. To me, your comment is more comical than offensive. People may call me many things but “spineless” is not one of them. If you had any idea of who I am you would have never used that word. I have no problem telling the administrator that he needs to repent and “play the man” instead of being a cowering like St. Peter did with the Judaizers. This conflict is similar to the conflict between Sts. Peter and Paul in Galatians chapter 2. St. Paul was so concerned that the Galatians could loose their salvation by bad influence, he said:

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema. As we said before, so now I say again: If any one preach to you a gospel, besides that which you have received, let him be anathema” (Gal. 1:8-9).

He said to St. Peter:

“But when Cephas was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. For before that some came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them who were of the circumcision. And to his dissimulation the rest of the Jews consented: so that Barnabas also was led by them into that dissimulation. But when I saw that they walked not uprightly unto the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all: If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of the Gentiles and not as the Jews do, how dost thou compel the Gentiles to live as do the Jews” (Gal. 2:11-14)?

I believe it is the visiting priest who is represents St. Paul and the administrator St. Peter who withdrew and separated himself for fear of his parishioners.

Many Catholics only think in terms of dead orthodoxy. They believe that we should only be concerned if a Catholic professes belief that is opposed to the apostolic tradition. On the contrary, Pope John Paul II said:

“It is useless to play off orthopraxis against orthodoxy: Christianity is inseparably both” (Catechesi Tradendae, 22).

I do not have a problem telling the administrator that he needs to repent and he can easily find me on the web if he wants to talk. Church Tradition is clear. “Public sinners ought to be publicly censured so that others may stand in fear” (Pope Eugene IV). More is a stake than the visiting father’s reputation—which is justification for the rebuke.

“Can. 220 No one is permitted to harm illegitimately the good reputation which a person possesses nor to injure the right of any person to protect his or her own privacy.”

The administrator needed to defend the visiting priest and he failed to do so. Now, the administrator needs to publicly apologize and defend the visiting priest. Those telling the visiting priest that he needs to reconcile with an unrepentant priest need to remember what is needed for absolution.

Finally, I did suggest in my original post that all should do the “Catholic thing” for the administrator and “pray for his repentance.”

We are attacked by those who don't miss Him one bit or are blind to the plight in which the Church, the Bride finds herself. But Jesus, unable to resist Mary's great love for Him, her fidelity in searching for Him, made such a revelation of Himself to her that life, for her, was never again the same. Let's continue, each in his own way to weep, mourne and not be consoled until the teachings of Vatican ii (which are the teachings of Jesus) are implemented. God bless every courageous priest who teaches the Truth and God bless, protect and console every priest who lacks the courage. - Blessings - Rene

Both of these priests had the right intentions and should both be commended. The administrator did not apologize for the talk itself. He apologized for the "effect" it had on the people. In other words, he was sorry they were hurt by it. He wasn't sorry it took place as it needed to be said and Fr. Villascuesa was a good priest to get the message across.

Instead of bad mouthing the administrator, why don't you try doing the Catholic thing and pray for him that he remains strong and courageous.

You are a singular blessing to those who are under your pastoral care. I have many questions, and will ask them after I fully assimilate that which is entailed in your forceful, studied, and, again, courageous homiletic.

I remember when I left the revolutionaries in the "I want to teach the world to sing"-- what I called a "coke and a host"--ersatz Catholicism. We did, in Massachusetts, attend the assembly of Fr. John Keene, who cited that which you cite. Father Keene was threatened by the Bishop and those of the "reformed catholicism." I was sickened, justifiably, by what I saw as the "enlightened innovations," which were certainly not “new” but a mere adaptation of the attitude of religious equivalency, secular tolerance and diversity, and broad-way-mindedness that brought the wrath of God upon the slime-pits of theValley of Siddim. Since I, and my beloved wife--both of us schooled in Roman Catholic teaching--wanted nothing to do with the apostasy of the peremptory arrogance of the apotheosizing despot-liberals, we removed ourselves.

Greg, you have given me much to think about. All I want is to be guided by God's Word and Holy Spirit, and by those who are not ashamed of our Lord and Savior.

I have attached a poem which goes to that which you teach. God keep you and increase your courage, for I am certain that you are a target of the Lord of This Word. That angel of the World's Light: Lucifer.

Hiccius Doccius by Frank Maguire

The phrase “hiccius doccius” dates back to 17th century England. It is a corruption of the Latin “hicce est doctus,” which means “here is a wise man.” It was used by jugglers as they performed, much as “hocus pocus” was used by performers of magic tricks. Later, the term came to be pejorative, taking on the connotation of “loose and fast.” In my poem, the oracle is one who juggles human souls, and plays loose-and-fast with the truth. Remember the Serpent of Eden. He sold his lie as the truth, and Sin entered each of us. Do not be enthralled, thus enslaved, by the Serpent’s alluring lies. It will convince you that your strongest carnal desires are true and good. God tells you otherwise. Choose Jesus, Messiah, and His Spirit of Truth will convict your conscience each and every moment. Beloved, Choose the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Each man must have ethics,” the sage of the soap-box vowed.
And the crowd as one applauded,
And each conjointly nodded.
’Tis ethics,” they cried, “what’s needed...ethics’ll do the trick;
The whole damned world’s gone crazy...the whole damned world is sick.”

The oracle gasconaded, and wove them into his shroud,
And smirked at the mad applause,
And slyly repeated his cause.
Each of you must have an ethic,” he canted, “on which each alone can rely.”
An ethic!” the spirited mob descanted, and oracle smirked at the cry.

He spun his guileful web—like a spider skilled at weaving.
And savored his facile deceit,
And the captives’ unison bleat.
Each of us must have an ethic,” the simple repeated, “of our very own,”
While the oracle blessed their acceptance of the poisonous seed he had sown.

In the midst of the frenzied flock stood an unaffected child,
With a gentle, loving face,
And eyes aglow with grace.
’Tis a lie straight from Hell you are speaking,” were the words of the gracious youth,
For if each man invents his own ethic, each man denies the Truth.”

Clear Truth,” the lad repeated, “must be the ethic of all.”
And he faced the oracle’s glare,
And the fold’s incredulous stare.
There’s a Truth that is transcendent, which ethics must need obey,
“Which is built on the Rock of Ages, and not upon quivering clay
.”

Sure as God, the lad’s resounding voice did silence the very wind.
And the oracle cowered in fright
At the youth who spoke of “Right.”
This world’s not damned while Truth prevails, and mankind pays it heed.
“If Truth is each man’s ethic, ‘twill comfort every man’s need
.”

What could be disturbing about this? People are clapping! What a great friend this priest is! He helped his "brother in Christ" by preaching for him about the changes he made recently in the sanctuary of this church. When is the last time you heard a priest with such conviction to the simple, basic truth in support of returning the tabernacle to it's rightful place, explaining the previously confusing altar. Not to mention taking time to compliment the administrator multiple times. For those that criticized this priest, or submitted to the crowd of complainers woe to you. Here is what our Lord revealed to Mutter Vogel in the pieta prayer book p.34

"One should NEVER attack a priest, even when he's in error. Rather, one should pray and do penance that I'll grant him My grace again. He alone fully represents Me, even when he doesn't live after My example!" (page 29, Mutter Vogel's Worldwide Love, St. Grignion Publishing House, Altoting, South Germany, June 29, 1929.

"When a priest falls, we should extend him a helping hand THROUGH PRAYER AND NOT THROUGH ATTACKS! I Myself will be his judge, NO ONE BUT I!Whoever voices judgement over a priest has voiced it over ME; child, never let a priest be attacked; take up his defense." (Feast of Christ the King 1937) "Child, never judge your confessor; rather, pray much for him and offer every Thursday, through the hands of My blessed Mother, Holy Communion (for him)" (June 6, 1939) "NEVER again accept an out-of-the-way word about a priest, and speak no unkind word (about them),EVEN IF IT WERE TRUE!Every priest is My Vicar and My heart will be sickened and insulted because of it! If you hear a judgement (against a priest) pray a Hail Mary." (June 28, 1939)

Please pray for these priests that God's grace may shield them from attacks and blessed them with zeal to proclaim the Gospel... especially when the devil gets disturbed by it. Jesus, Mary and Joseph please save souls!

What a wonderful catechesis this priest has given these fortunate parishioners. This video should be a 'must watch' video for all RCIA candidates. I love this priest! What courage he has. His delivery is powerful, no one could ever sleep thru one of his homilies. God bless this priest. If only we had more men in the seminaries like this priest.

courageous and very, very catholic. A teaching homily that actually speaks to the difference between the 'spirit of Vatican II' and the actual documents of Vaatican II. Now I don't feel quite as 'dumbed-down' about the documents. Please do more on the documents. Wish he was our priest.
