That is not true Catholic doctrine on war, but expected from Lifesite. Why is Gloria repeating it? Palestine has been destroyed by Hamas and Israel has a right to defend itself.

I would agree that Catholic doctrine on war allows for a proportional response. Any country has a right to defend itself. A proportional response is not a “response in kind.” Retaliation can never justly target civilians. But, I think that what the world is more afraid of is a wider conflict. Nothing that’s happened here should oblige the US, or any other country to get involved, risking the sort …More

A proportional response is not a “response in kind.” Retaliation can never justly target civilians. But, I think that what the world is more afraid of is a wider conflict. Nothing that’s happened here should oblige the US, or any other country to get involved, risking the sort of escalation that happened in Europe in the summer of 1914, or even 1939.
