Relations between the Vatican and the Russian Orthodox are more or less at a standstill and "practically frozen", Russian Orthodox Metropolitan Anthony Sevryuk told Vesti.ru.
"At this stage, I must say that some comments we read and hear not only from the lips of the Pope, but also from a large part of his staff, absolutely do not help to prepare a new meeting and our further cooperation."
Less than a month ago, Francis met with Sevryuk for 15 minutes in Kazakhstan.
Sevryuk's statement shows that the Vatican is all hot for "ecumenism" as long as ecumenical activities are rubber-stamped by the oligarchs ("politically correct").
