Cardinal Sarah Criticises Communion In The Hand
Cardinal Robert Sarah notices in a preface for the Italian book The Distribution of Communion on the hand. Historical, juridical and pastoral survey that Communion in the hand “undoubtedly involves a great scattering of fragments” of the host.
He explains that the attention to the smallest crumbs, the care in purifying the sacred vessels, not touching the Host with sweaty hands - mostly things that have been lost in the present Church - "become professions of faith in the real presence of Jesus.”
He calls communion in the hand while standing an “attitude of lack of submission to the signs of God”. Sarah’s preface was published on lanuovabq.it (February 22).
