The Prime Minister Is Their Pope: Belgian Bishops Attack Francis After Visit
The leader of the Belgian regime, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, an abortion ideologist, considered this accurate assessment "totally unacceptable".
Bishop Pierre Warin of Namur said of Francis on the the diocese's website: "He has stirred up controversy. We must accept our society as it is. Christian witness needs to be more humble. I'm sure the Pope doesn't write all his speeches, but you have to take into account the context of the country you're in."
Bishop Guy Harpigny of Tournai told NoTele.be: "The fact that the Pope wants to beatify King Baudouin probably comes from some [Catholics], but the bishops have never asked for it." In 1990, King Baudouin had refused to sign the abortion law, which was passed anyway.
Bishop Harpigny added that a pope can say something against abortion, "but to call doctors, gynecologists, hitmen - he already did that a few years ago - is a bit strong. And I understand [sic] gynaecologists". However, Francis was not talking about gynaecologists but about abortionists.
Bishop Johan Bonny of Antwerp, a homosexual activist and friend of Francis, opposed the beatification of King Baudouin announced by Francis.
