This mode-one chant is very basic indeed. However, this is how the early church began: the psalm tone, then embelishments upon same. However, I rather think that a mode-one Gloria could be more florid (at least at major textual moments, e.g. "for you alone are the Lord, you alone are the MOST HIGH, Jesus Christ....).
