Francis Effect: Chartres Pilgrimage Is Crushing Success

The number of registration for the Paris-Chartres Pentecost youth pilgrimage is increasing every day, Jean de Tauriers told HommeNouveau.fr (May 4), “We should certainly exceed 15,000 this year.”

For about a third (!) of the pilgrims, it is an occasion to discover the Mass and to return next year. Many of them are converts, or returning to the Church.

The pilgrimage dedicated to the Mass is “under episcopal pressure.” Tauriers was even asked to introduce the failed Novus Ordo Eucharist. But there are also friendly gestures from certain bishops.

Paris Archbishop Ulrich allowed one of his priests to celebrate Mass at Saint-Sulpice. Chartres Bishop Christory will attend the Mass celebrated in his cathedral by Archbishop Gullickson.

Hauts-de-Seine Bishop Rougé will welcome the pilgrims in his diocese. Old Rite Catholics are by far the largest and most vital part of the French Church.
